World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026

Great Destiny Makers Foundation Partners with Edo State Migration Agency to Raise Awareness Against Human Trafficking

As part of activities marking the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Great Destiny Makers Foundation (GDMF), in collaboration with the Edo State Migration Agency (EDMA), joined the global campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and the collective responsibility to protect vulnerable people from exploitation.

This year’s campaign focused on strengthening public awareness, promoting safe migration, and encouraging communities to take an active role in preventing trafficking in persons. The event brought together government officials, development partners, community leaders, youth representatives, volunteers, and members of the public in a united effort to educate, inform, and inspire action against one of the world’s most serious human rights violations.

Through advocacy, public engagement, and community sensitization, participants emphasized that human trafficking thrives where ignorance, poverty, and silence exist. They called on everyone to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and support initiatives that empower vulnerable individuals, especially women and young people.

Speaking on behalf of Great Destiny Makers Foundation, the Foundation reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting lives, promoting safe and legal migration, empowering communities, and creating opportunities that reduce the vulnerability of young people to trafficking and exploitation.

The Foundation expresses its profound appreciation to the Managing Director of the Edo State Migration Agency, Honourable Lucky Agazuma, for his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and tireless efforts in the fight against human trafficking and irregular migration. His dedication to public enlightenment, youth empowerment, and strategic partnerships has continued to strengthen the collective response against human trafficking in Edo State and beyond.

Great Destiny Makers Foundation also sincerely appreciates the entire management and staff of the Edo State Migration Agency for their warm collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding the dignity and future of vulnerable persons. We look forward to sustaining this impactful partnership in advancing awareness, prevention, and community empowerment.

As the event concluded, participants renewed their commitment to standing together against human trafficking, emphasizing that the fight against trafficking is everyone’s responsibility. Governments, civil society organisations, faith-based institutions, traditional leaders, the media, and every member of society have a vital role to play in protecting lives and preserving human dignity.

Together, we can end human trafficking. See it. Report it. Stop it.
